Johnny Doty (he/him)

is a singer, actor, and musician from Long Island, New York. He has worked towards his Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre at Rider University’s esteemed program in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, for the past four years. Doty will graduate this spring, and you can catch him showcasing his talents alongside the rest of Rider’s musical theatre class of 2024 at Ripley Grier in NYC on May 8th!

During his collegiate career of mainstage shows, Doty had the opportunity to spread neighborly love as “Trent Oliver” in The Prom, directed by Robin Lewis, command the crowd as “Officer Lockstock” in Urinetown, directed by Todd Buonopane, and take to the stage as “Man #1” in Working directed by Broadway’s T. Oliver Reid. In 2023, Doty made his operatic debut with the world-renowned Westminister Choir College in the collegiate premiere of The Ghosts of Gatsby, written by Evan Mack and Joshua McGuire.

Doty has worked regionally at companies such as Tibbit’s Opera House, the Argyle Theatre, and Feinstein’s 54 Below. This coming July, he will play “Seymour Krelborn” in Little Shop of Horrors at Grandstreet Theatre in Helena, Montana.

As a seasoned musician, he is proficient in guitar, ukulele, French horn, and beatboxing. Doty is also an ISSA-certified personal trainer and a brother of Theta Chi Fraternity at Rider University.

With an intense passion for music and production, there’s no doubt that we will be receiving original music from Doty within the near future. Stay tuned!
